My least favorite thing...studying!

I know there are people out there that can relate to what I’m going through, so I had to share and get your advice! When I attended college I had a hard time deciding what to major in. I loved writing and I loved children. I decided to go the writing route, and I got my B.A. in Journalism. About a year after graduation that year, I decided I needed options in life! So I decided to enroll in an online master’s program through another University to get my teaching certificate. I completed the program, got a job teaching preschool, and that eventually lead to my current position as an educational assistant at a local charter school. As educational majors know, you have to pass a few state tests to get your teaching certificate. Well, so far I have taken and passed one exam, and I have my temporary teaching certificate. I need to pass two more. Doesn’t sound too bad right? Well it is because I hate studying! I would rather write papers than study for tests! (I guess that’s the journalism in me.) I just need to buckle down and study. I have studied a little, but I just can’t get myself to do it every day. I want to pass these tests so I can complete the program, and have two amazing career options! If you can relate to my study problem, how do you get yourself to do it, and do it consistently? Help, I’ve fallen off the study band wagon and get back on!

Strength and Love

So I had planned on writing more blogs last week but as we all know, life takes unexpected turns sometimes. I had a family member diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to make some tough decisions quickly, and she chose to have a brave surgery performed a few days later. Needless to say it was a tough week. Her surgery went great, and she is seeing her doctor this week to determine the next step. One special thing that came out of last week was I got to watch my baby cousin! She is a year old and is absolutely adorable! My fiancĂ© and I spent the day with her and we had a great time! She really made me want to have kids sooner than later! You know, it’s weird because when I was 16 years old I remember thinking, “I want to have kids at 24!” Well 24 seemed forever away when I was 16, but it came up fast. When I finally turned 24 I was not ready for children. Now that I am 27 and about to be married, I still feel kids are at least a year or two away. But I tell you what; my baby cousin definitely gets me excited to have my own. It gets me thinking about so many things like, how many children will I have? What will their sexes be? What will they look like? What will their personalities be?  I guess only the future will be able to answer them for me. For now I will enjoy every moment watching the little ones closest to me!
Here is a picture of my baby cousin! (I’m not a big fan of showing faces, at least right now! And I would need her mommy’s permission of course!)

I also took a picture of these Gerber puffs. For any of you who are health conscious or are trying to be, these are not only a good snack for little ones, they are also a great snack for adults! They come in all different kinds in the baby aisle, and they are very low in calories, fat and sugar! There are even ones that look and taste similar to cheese puffs! Hey, try them sometime! Keep a look out for coupons for them too ;)

Well here it goes…my first blog! Sitting down to write this is surprisingly a little nerve racking for me. I love to write, and I went to school for writing, but blogging is so much more personal than what I’m used to doing! In my Journalism classes I was writing more news articles than anything else. Before college I loved to write poems, and I kept a journal about things I was feeling and experiencing, however no one ever read them but me and a couple friends. So this will be a new and exciting experience for me.  I have a lot of different interests and have been told I should blog about them. I brushed it off for a while, but lately I have been feeling compelled to actually do it. So there you go! That’s how “Life, Love and All Things Good” came about! Since two of my passions are writing and children, my fiancĂ© is convinced I should write a children’s book. I’m not opposed to it, I actually think it’s a great idea (thanks babeJ), but I want to ease into blogging and see where writing takes me! I will try to blog as much as possible, especially in the upcoming weeks so you get to know more about me. I would love to read your comments, therefore feel free to post your thoughts, feelings and questions below! I would also like to get into the habit of posting inspirational quotes at the end of my blog, so look out for those and let me know which ones touch you the most! Thank you for being a part of my VERY FIRST BLOG! I’m excited and can’t wait to blog again J
